Run Devil Run is Paul McCartney's twelfth solo album . At the same time, including the Wings albums, the Fireman albums, the classic albums, the live albums and compilation albums, it is Paul McCartney's 30th album after the Beatles split up . It was released on October 4, 1999 in the UK and October 5, 1999 in the US.

Emergence

Almost twelve years after recording his first rock 'n' roll album Снова в СССР Paul McCartney decided to record another one, so Paul McCartney's album includes selected rock 'n' roll songs from the 1950s and three new McCartney compositions ( What It Is , Try Not to Cry and the title track Run Devil Run ), which musically fit into the album. Run Devil Run is also a decisive experience in McCartney's life, as it was his first project after the death of his wife Linda , who passed away on April 17, 1998. With the album and the associated appearance at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, Paul McCartney returned to his musical roots.

McCartney tried to create a live atmosphere when recording the songs, as you can hear it in the early Beatles songs. Paul McCartney hired Chris Thomas, who had already been the producer of the last Wings album Back to the Egg, as co-producer , and had the recordings take place in Abbey Road Studios , where the Beatles had already recorded their albums.

Paul McCartney invited Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour , with whom he had already worked on Rockestra , Give My Regards to Broad Street and Flowers in the Dirt , and Mick Green, who had already worked on Снова в СССР , to accompany Paul McCartney as well as the Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice . The recording sessions took place from March 1st to 5th, and two more on May 4th and 5th, 1999.

During a family stay in Atlanta , USA, in January 1999 , Paul and James McCartney found a drug called Run Devil Run in the Miller's Rexall drugstore , which is supposed to keep “evil” spirits away. This name was then used for a song and the album.

The album was released on October 4, 1999 and was largely positively received by music critics. In Europe, the album was also released as a vinyl long-playing record.

Paul McCartney appeared on the German entertainment show Wetten, dass ..? On December 11, 1999 . and brought up his new single No Other Baby .
