Emergence
On June 27, 2007, Paul McCartney and his band gave a free concert at the Amoeba Music record store chain in Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles to promote his album Memory Almost Full . The idea was to get more exposure as the group The Police performed at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles that same day . The audience of almost 1,000 included Ringo Starr and his wife Barbara Bach, as well as Olivia Harrison . Other celebrities included Jeff Lynne , Alanis Morissette , Woody Harrelson and Rosanna Arquette . Paul "Wix" Wickens was not available for the concert and was replaced by Dave Arch on keyboard. The original mix was done by David Kahne at SeeSquared Studios in New York. Paul McCartney mentioned at the beginning of the concert and on the cover text of the album: “This has to be the most surreal gig ever. The Management has asked me to point out no shoplifting please. " (German: "This has to be the most surreal appearance of all time. The management asked me to point out that please do not commit shoplifting.")
On November 13, 2007, a limited 12 ″ vinyl EP with four songs was released in the USA under the title Amoeba's Secret , followed in January 2009 by a CD release that reached number 119 in the US charts. Two of the songs, That Was Me ("Best Male Pop Vocal Performance") and I Saw Her Standing There ("Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance"), were each nominated for a Grammy in 2009.
