The Holtanna ( m , also f ; Norwegian for "hollow tooth") is a 2650  m high mountain in the Drygalski Mountains in Neuschwabenland ( East Antarctica ), a good 200 kilometers inland from Dublitskiy Bay on the Princess Astrid coast . It rises 800 meters from the ice surface.

The mountain was measured and mapped by the Norwegian Antarctic Expedition 1956-1960, among other things with the help of aerial photographs .

Alpinism

The first ascent of Holtanna was achieved by Alain Hubert, Ralf Dujmovits , André Georges, Daniel Mercier, Fabrizzio Zangrilli and René Robert in 10 days over a route of difficulty ED / ABO 6b A2-A3 over the south pillar. The summit was reached on the night of December 31, 2000 to January 1, 2001.

The 2630  m high north summit had already been climbed in 1994 by Robert Caspersen , Sjur Nesheim and Ivar Tollefsen .

In 2008 Thomas Huber , Alexander Huber and Stephan Siegrist climbed the west face of the south pillar for the first time via the Ice Age route (difficulty level VII + A4 ).
