Wood and building protectors

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The wood and building protector has been a state-recognized training occupation in Germany since 2007 according to the Vocational Training Act and the Crafts Code .

History of origin

Since the introduction of the craft regulations in 1953, there have been efforts on the part of the Deutscher Holz- und Bautenschutzverband e. V. to legally establish a training regulation for the wood and building protection trade. These attempts to transfer wood and building protection from Annex B of the Crafts Code (craft-like trade) to Annex A (craft subject to authorization) failed. The prerequisites for carrying out work in wood and building protection on a commercial basis remained just as unregulated as the activities that a wood and building protection company was allowed to offer. A push by the trade associations to limit the areas of activity of wood and building protection led in 1978 to an agreement between the DHBV and the German Chamber of Handicrafts with the result of the adoption of a directory of activities for the wood and building protection trade. Another attempt by the DHBV at the beginning of the 1990s to implement legally regulated qualifications for the industry on the basis of this list of activities also failed, as a study by the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BiBB) in 1996 came to the conclusion that the required qualifications were required are covered by the existing construction occupations and therefore an independent training occupation is not required.

In 2003, the BiBB carried out another expertise at the instigation of the DHBV and this time came to the conclusion that the training regulations for the wood and building protection trade submitted by the DHBV only slightly overlap with the training regulations for the existing construction professions. BIBB has now favored training in wood and building protection as a tiered model, two consecutive apprenticeships: a two-year apprenticeship without specialization, the specialist for wood and building protection work and a three-year apprenticeship with two disciplines , the wood and building protection. This structure was put into practice in 2007.

Duration of training and structure

The training period for wood and building protectors is usually three years. The training takes place at the training company and vocational school . It is a two-way profession. Building protection and wood protection, which was prescribed in a joint training regulation with the two-year training occupation for wood and building protection work. The two years of training as a specialist in wood and building protection are identical to the first two years of training as wood and building protection.

Work areas

Wood and building protectors recognize and eliminate damage caused by animal and vegetable wood destroyers. They fight wood-destroying insects and fungi, carry out preventive wood protection measures and dry out damp structures. You carry out external and internal seals on structures that come into contact with the ground. You are also able to repair masonry damaged by moisture and salt.

If you have chosen the field of wood protection, you will also be able to fight not only common wood destroyers but also less common animal and vegetable wood destroyers. They can use alternative processes and special processes, for example thermal processes or gassing processes .

They have, however, chosen the Department of Building, they can also use the already learned addition plaster destruction recognize and carry out cleaning renovations. Wood and building protectors have the opportunity to work as concrete repairers thanks to operational specialization .

Wood and building protectors find their place of work in the wood and building protection trade in the craft and industry.

Training opportunities

On the basis of the training regulations, the DHBV went on to develop a master craftsman's examination regulation for wood and building protection and to coordinate this with the trade associations of the trade. As a result of this agreement, the Wood and Building Protection Master Ordinance came into force on November 1, 2012. Wood and building protection is thus a new master craft in the non-licensed trade.
