The Holzgauer Wetterspitze (also Lechtaler Wetterspitze ) is a mountain near Kaisers in the Lechtal Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol . The striking rock tower, which drops vertically up to 500 m, is 2895  m above sea level. A. the sixth highest peak in the Lechtal Alps.

The mountain lies to the east above the Frederick-Simms-Hütte at the head of the Sulzeltal , 7 kilometers as the crow flies south of Holzgau in the Lechtal and five kilometers east of Kaisers. Neighboring peaks are the Etlerkopf (2,693 m) in the north, separated by the Schafscharte , the Fallenbacherspitze (2,723 m) in the southeast and the Feuerspitze with 2,852 meters in the south .

The Holzgauer Wetterspitze consists of hard Oberrhät - limestone from the Mesozoic period Upper Triassic .

Base and easiest ascent

  • The easiest route ( normal route ) to the summit leads from the Frederick-Simms-Hütte at 2,002 meters south over the Fallenbacherjoch (2,753 m) over the south ridge to the summit in 2½ hours. The last 80 meters in altitude require easy climbing in the UIAA I area, but exposed in the summit area and one point is provided with a wire rope insurance. Surefootedness and a head for heights are required.
  • The summit can also be reached from Kaisers (1,518 m) in 5 hours through the Kaisertal via the Fallenbacherjoch.
