Hoog Soeren ( Lower Saxony Hoog Soeren ) is a village in the municipality of Apeldoorn in the Dutch province of Gelderland .
geography
The district of Hoog Soeren en Radio Kootwijk (including the hamlets of Assel and Hoog Buurlo ) has 340 inhabitants, only the village has 175 inhabitants. The district has an area of about 44 km². It is located in the west of the municipality, surrounded by the forests of the Veluwe .
To the north is Het Loo , a museum of the history of the Dutch royal family and a former royal palace. To the northwest of Hoog Soeren is the Torenheuvel , at 107 meters the second highest hill in Gelderland.
Since 1996 Hoog Soeren has been a community protected village face.
history
People lived here as early as prehistoric times, and the numerous barrows give evidence of this. On an old map of the Veluwe from the 16th century, Hoog Soeren is reported as Hooch Zuer . At that time the village formed the crossroads of important sand roads in the direction of Harderwijk , Apeldoorn , Arnhem and Amersfoort .
Sports
The village has a golf club , the Veluwse Golf Club . In winter the midwinter marathon is run in Hoog Soeren and the surrounding area .
