Horst Christopeit (born August 15, 1939 ) is a former German soccer player who entered the DFB Cup final as captain of VfL Bochum in 1968 . Today he is an entrepreneur in Hattingen and was a member of the supervisory board of VfL Bochum from 2002 to 2010.

Career

In 1957 Horst Christopeit moved from the youth of SSVg 09/12 Heiligenhaus to Schwarz-Weiß Essen . At the Uhlenkrug , Christopeit was only the substitute goalkeeper behind Hermann Merchel before continuing his career at SSV Hagen . In the 1962/63 season, VfL Bochum only finished 14th in the 2nd West League and was therefore not included in the new Regionalliga West for the 1963/64 round . President Ottokar Wüst signed Hubert Schieth as the new coach for the 1963/64 round of the Westphalia League . Schieth brought Josef Schoppen and Horst Christopeit from his previous club, SSV Hagen .

In the first season in the Association League Westphalia, Group 2 , VfL Bochum and goalkeeper Christopeit took second place behind master Dortmund SC 95 . In the second round, the team around captain Horst Christopeit won the championship in front of Lüner SV . In the following games for the Westphalia Championship against SpVgg Erkenschwick it was also about promotion to the Regionalliga West . The decision did not bring the third game in Recklinghausen, it ended 1: 1 after extra time, the promotion was decided by drawing lots (tossing a coin) for VfL Bochum. On May 2, 1965, the VfL goalkeeper made his debut in the international match in Heilbronn against Italy in the German national soccer team of amateurs .

The goalkeeper played his first game in Regionalliga West on August 15, 1965 at the start of the 1965/66 series . Bochum won 1-0 at VfB Bottrop . At the end of the round, the climber landed in 12th place. Bochum was already at the top of the table in the second regional league year. In the decisive game on April 9, 1967 in the home stadium against Alemannia Aachen , Christopeit dislocated his arm and stopper Dieter “Ötsch” Vogel had to replace the captain in goal. In the 78th minute Josef Martinelli decided with a converted penalty kick the game in front of 30,000 spectators with 1-0 for Aachen and Bochum fell back to fourth place. For the 1967/68 round , ex-Schalke Hermann Eppenhoff, a new coach came to Bochum. In the Regionalliga this did not immediately bring the hoped-for success, VfL finished fifth.

Then there were the successes against Karlsruher SC and VfB Stuttgart . In the quarter-finals, the offensive power of Herbert Lracht and Günter Netzer was eliminated and thus defeated Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-0 in front of 32,000 spectators . In the semi-final game on May 15, 1968, the attack by FC Bayern Munich, which only scored the next goal in the 90th minute of the game and lost the game with 2-1 goals, was repelled. Moving into the cup final on June 9, 1968 in the Südweststadion of Ludwigshafen was the highlight of Horst Christopeit's sporting career. The 4-1 defeat against 1. FC Köln did nothing to change that.

For the round 1968/69 , Theo Diegelmann from SSV Reutlingen came to VfL and took over the post from Christopeit, who in the summer of 1969, after 58 appearances in the Association League and 99 appearances in the Regionalliga West for VfL Bochum , moved to Prussia Münster changed. In Münster, Christopeit made 7 missions in the 1969/70 round before he ended his career. Christopeit's last regional league game was the 3-3 draw of the Prussians at TSV Marl-Hüls on November 30, 1969.
