Horst von Buttlar

Horst von Buttlar (born September 21, 1975 in Hamburg ) is a German journalist.

Life

After graduating from high school , von Buttlar completed an academic year in St. Augustine , Florida / USA. From 1996 to 2002 he studied Slavic Studies , History and Political Science at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg (intermediate examination), the State University of Saint Petersburg and the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (graduation with MA ). In addition to his studies, he worked for various local newspapers and radio.

From November 2002 to February 2004 he graduated from the German School of Journalism in Munich. From January 2004 he was a freelancer for the Frankfurter Rundschau .

In September 2004 he went to the Financial Times Deutschland ( FTD ), where he was initially editor in the comment team. From 2007 he headed the Agenda / Reports team. In 2009 he became deputy head of the Agenda of Gruner + Jahr business media ( FTD , Capital , impulse ), and in 2010 head of the division. Von Buttlar has been editor-in-chief of the business magazine Capital since June 2013 and has since implemented a successful relaunch under the motto “Business is society” .

In 2011 he was a Bucerius Fellow at Harvard University in Cambridge / USA. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Johanna Quandt Foundation . He is the editor of the book My First Million: 50 Entrepreneurs Talk About the Secret of Their Success , which was published by Heyne Verlag in 2018 .

During the Covid 19 pandemic , he conducted interviews on the podcast Zero Hour - Germany's way out of the crisis .
