Hortense raky

Hortense Raky , married Hortense Paryla (born August 27, 1918 in Berlin ; † September 25, 2006 in Vienna ), daughter of Anton Raky (1868–1943), was an Austrian theater and film actress.

Life

As early as 1934 she performed successfully at the Theater in der Josefstadt in The Princess on the Ladder ( My sister and I ) (directed by Otto Preminger ). In November 1934 she played on the same stage with her future husband, Karl Paryla, in Carl Zuckmayer's Der Schelm von Bergen . and in Sidney Kingsley's people in White ( Men in White ) (directed by Otto Preminger).

The best-known film for which she was in front of the camera is Burgtheater from 1936. After Austria's annexation to the German Empire, she went to Budapest to film in 1937. In 1938, Hortense Raky appeared in Amsterdam and Schevingen in the exile cabaret theater of celebrities . In the same year she emigrated to Switzerland. There she was engaged at the Zürcher Schauspielhaus . After the Second World War she was employed at German theaters. Among other things, from 1957 at the Deutsches Theater in East Berlin , where she had moved with her family. One of her most outstanding stage roles is the portrayal of Miller in Friedrich Schiller's Kabale und Liebe (1965).

In the 1960s she played at the Munich Kammerspiele under Fritz Kortner in Richard the Third and in Die Zwiessprache and under August Everding in Mr. Puntila and his servant Matti .

From 1939 until his death in 1996, Hortense Raky was married to the important Austrian actor and director Karl Paryla (1905-1996). The two sons that emerged from this marriage also became actors: Nikolaus Paryla (* 1939) and Stephan Paryla-Raky (* 1948). Hortense Raky was buried in the honorary family grave of her husband in the Vienna Central Cemetery .
