Hosston is a parish in Caddo Parish in the US state of Louisiana . About 300 people live in an area of more than seven square kilometers.
Hosston is part of the Ark-La-Tex socio-economic region , which includes parts of the four states of Arkansas , Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas .

Hosston is located in the northwest of the state of Louisiana, about 15 km from the northern border with Arkansas and the western border with Texas. Nearby cities are Vivian (11.5 km west), Plain Dealing (18.3 km east), and Oil City (15.7 km southwest).
The city borders in the west on the approximately 170 kilometers long Black Lake Bayou , about 15 kilometers southwest is the 10,000 hectare Caddo Lake . About five kilometers east of the city runs one of the longest rivers in the world, the Red River , which originates in northern Texas and flows into the Atchafalaya River after 1966 kilometers , which in turn feeds the Mississippi River .
Demographics
The 2000 census showed a population of 387 people, divided between 152 households and 101 families. The population density was 56 people per square kilometer. 77% of the residents were white, 22.5% black, and 0.3% each was Latin American and Asian. 0.3% came from two or more ethnicities. The median age was 41 years and the per capita income was more than 18,000 US dollars, which means that over a quarter of the population lived below the poverty line.
The 2010 census found a lower population of 318.
