Hucisko [ xuˈt͡ɕiskɔ ] is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality of Stryszawa in the powiat Suski of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .

geography

The place lies between the Saybuscher Beskids ( Beskid Żywiecki ) and the Middle Beskids ( Beskid Makowski ).

history

The place was founded in the 15th century as a hamlet by Pewel Wielka . The name is derived from primitive ironworks, later a glassworks also functioned here. Hucisko became independent in 1679.

During the first partition of Poland in 1772 the village became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1884, the Żywiec –Sucha section of the Galician Transversal Railway was opened by Hucisko with a train station. The highest point of the section is in Hucisko at 560 m.

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Hucisko came to Poland. In 1936 a Roman Catholic Church was built (rebuilt in 1988) and in 1945 the parish was established.

During the Second World War , the village belonged to the district of Saybusch in the administrative district of Katowice in the province of Silesia (since 1941 province of Upper Silesia ). In 1945 there was a battle between the Germans and the Soviets. There was a marksman in the church. About 100 Soviets were then buried at the church (later exhumed).

From 1975 to 1998 Hucisko was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
