Lachowice is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality of Stryszawa in the powiat Suski of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .

geography

The place lies on the brook Lachówka between the Saybuscher Beskids ( Beskid Żywiecki ) and the Middle Beskids ( Beskid Makowski ).

history

The first settlers were Wallachians who came around the 16th century and founded some hamlets such as Kobylanka (mentioned in 1598) and Lubnica (mentioned in 1608). The name Lachowice has been used since around 1670 , after the Lachen , the inhabitants of the plains , who also lived there . These settlements were officially incorporated into a village by Anna, born Małachowska Wielopolska, in 1696.

During the first partition of Poland in 1772 the village became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

The place belonged to the Sucha lordship . In 1841 the Roman Catholic parish was established. In 1884 the Żywiec –Sucha section of the Galician Transversal Railway through Lachowice was opened.

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Lachowice became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the district of Saybusch in the administrative district of Katowice in the province of Silesia (since 1941 province of Upper Silesia ).

From 1975 to 1998 Lachowice belonged to the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
