Historically, "Hultsfred" comes from Old Swedish and means "forest peace".

Attractions

The Hultsfred Festival has been held in Hultsfred every June since 1986 , previously the largest rock and pop music festival in Scandinavia.

The narrow-gauge museum railway “Smalspåret” runs from Hultsfred via Ankarsrum to Västervik .
