Målilla is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Kalmar län and the historic province of Småland . The place is in the municipality of Hultsfred .
history
The place was first mentioned under the name Malhella in 1329, which means "meeting place on Steinberg".
Since 2015, an area around the former sanatorium in the north-western part of Målilla has been designated as an independent Småort . The sanatorium for the treatment of tuberculosis , known as Slottet i skogen ("Castle in the Forest"), opened in 1915 and was in operation until 1973. The extensive facilities later served as a hotel (under the name Moliljan ), which has been rented by the Swedish immigration authorities (Migrationsverket) since 2013 to accommodate asylum seekers.
traffic
The place used to have a train station, where the Sävsjö – Målilla line branched off from the Nässjö – Oskarshamn line. After the passenger stop has been released, there is only one loading of goods.
In addition, the narrow-gauge railway line formerly leading from Västervik to Växjö touches the town in the north (with the Målilla sanatorium stop).
Attractions
Målilla has a bandy team , the Målilla GoIF Bandy , an open-air motor show and a football club. The speedway races , where Målilla has its own team, the Dackarna, are also a big event . On June 14, 2014 the Speedway World Championship Grand Prix of Sweden took place in Målilla as part of the Individual Speedway World Championship.
The narrow-gauge railway line can be used by trolleys from Hultsfred for 12 km to Målilla sanatorium .
The town's large thermometer is also worth mentioning , as the highest temperature in the country was measured in Målilla at 38 ° C and the lowest at minus 33.8 ° C in southern Sweden.
