Hummelflug is a documentary film by the DEFA studio for documentaries by Winfried Junge from 1978 .

action

The film shows the everyday work of a pilot , with an agricultural aircraft type Z-37A (also Hummel with the identifier DM-SUF in called) Gera district in agriculture is used. The working day begins with the aircraft taxiing out of the hangar , the technical inspection, the marking of the runway, the refueling and the filling of the chemical container, which can hold up to 500 kilograms. This amount is enough for about 7 minutes of flight time and then you have to land again to pick up new material. The aircraft is in the air for around 7 hours per working day. There is a person on the ground who shows the pilot the starting point for opening the drop chute.

With the agricultural flight , of course, a much larger area can be worked than with the previous options. It is also shown that discussions with other users of the space are necessary. It is very important for a beekeeper that the scattering does not happen during the main flight time of his bees. A shepherd attaches importance to the fact that the spreading area does not affect the areas on which he is currently out with his sheep. The pilot tries to respond to all of these requests. He is aware of the importance and beauty of his job and under no circumstances does he want to swap with a large airliner .
