Hunspell is spell check software and a morphological analyzer for languages with rich morphology and complex word compositions .

General

Hunspell was originally developed for the Hungarian language , from which the name is derived. There are interfaces for common platforms and programming languages such as Java , Perl and .NET .

Hunspell is based on MySpell and is backwards compatible with MySpell dictionaries. While MySpell an 8- bit - ASCII used -encoding, Hunspell can UTF-8 process -encoded dictionaries.

Hunspell is used in:

Thesaurus and Hyphenation

In addition to spell checking, hyphenation projects (project name Hyphen ) and a thesaurus (project name MyThes ) are also being developed. Although developed jointly, these are stand-alone projects and can be used independently of Hunspell. Hyphen and MyThes are integrated in OpenOffice as hyphenation and thesaurus, but use their own dictionaries or databases, which are listed separately in OpenOffice. In the .NET version of Hunspell (project name NHunspell ) the Hyphen and MyThes implementations are also integrated in a common distribution.
