Husain Maziq

Hussein Yousef Maziq (حسين يوسف مازق Ḥusain Yūsif Māziq ; * June 26, 1918 according to other sources 1910 ; † May 12, 2006 ) in Benghazi was Prime Minister of Libya from March 20, 1965 to July 2, 1967. He was previouslythe country's foreign minister from 1964 to 1965.

During his term of office, sections of the Via Balbia coastal road were upgraded to become a coastal motorway.

During Muammar al-Gaddafi's coup d'état on September 1, 1969, he stayed abroad, but returned to Libya. Like most Kingdom-era officials, he was tried in the national people's court. In court he defended his relationship with King Idris . In 1971 he was sentenced to ten years in prison, but released early in 1974. He spent the rest of his life at home in Benghazi, where he died on May 12, 2006.
