Imbarik asch-Schamich

Mubarak Abdallah asch- Schamich or Imbarik asch-Schamich ( Arabic إمبارك عبد الله الشامخ, DMG Imbārik ʿAbd Allāh aš-Šāmiḫ ; * May 15, 1952 in Benghazi , Libya ) was Prime Minister of Libya from 2000 to 2003 and Libyan head of state from 2009 to 2010.

asch-Schamich studied in the United States and returned to Libya after graduating from the University of Central Florida in 1982. He was installed by Muammar al-Gaddafi on March 1, 2000 as (de facto) Prime Minister of Libya. He was in office until June 14, 2003. On March 5, 2009 he was appointed chairman of the General People's Congress and thus de jure Libyan head of state. In January 2010 he was replaced by Muhammad Abu al-Qasim az-Zuwai .
