The 1974/75 season was the first season of I-divisioona , the second highest Finnish ice hockey division . Vaasan Sport and FoPS Forssa were promoted to the newly founded SM-liiga .

In the main round, each of the eight teams played a total of 28 games. The first two placed rose to the SM-liiga. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
