The ICC World Twenty20 Women's 2012 was the third World Cup Twenty20 -Cricket women and found parallel to the World Cup men from 26 September to 7 October 2012 in Sri Lanka instead. In the final Australia was able to prevail against England with a 4 run win.

Attendees

The field of participants consists of eight teams. Pakistan and South Africa qualified for this tournament at the 2011 Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier :

  • Australia Australia
  • Pakistan Pakistan
  • England England
  • South Africa South Africa
  • New Zealand New Zealand
  • West Indies cricket team West Indies

format

Four teams were drawn in each of the two preliminary round groups, in which everyone played a game. There are two points for the winning team, none for the losing team. If no winner can be determined (for example due to the rain dropping out), both teams received one point each. If after the innings both teams have scored the same number of runs, a super over follows . If this is also a draw, the number of runs scored the most with one ball is decisive. After the preliminary round, the two best teams qualify for the semi-finals, whereby the net run rate is decisive in the event of a tie . The two winners of the semi-finals then play the final.
