ICC T20 World Cup 2021
Indians ICC T20 World Cup 2021 , the seventh staging of the World Cup to Twenty20 cricket his men. Originally, the tournament was to take place as the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 from October 18 to November 15, 2020 in Australia . In mid-July 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic , it was decided to postpone it by one year. The tournament was awarded to India , which was originally supposed to host the tournament in 2021, and Australia was scheduled for the 2022 edition. After the tournament was previously known as ICC World Twenty20 , this will be the first edition under the new name.
Attendees
A total of 16 teams will take part in the tournament. In addition to the host, these are the first nine best-placed teams in the ICC T20I Championship on January 1, 2019.
Six teams also qualified at the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019, which was held in the United Arab Emirates in October and November 2019 .

After Zimbabwe was suspended due to political influence on the association, a full member of the ICC could not qualify for the T20 World Cup. Namibia and Papua New Guinea qualified for the tournament for the first time.
format
The two teams that finished ninth and tenth in the ICC T20I Championship on the cut-off date and the qualifiers initially split up into two groups of four from the preliminary round, in which everyone plays against each other. The two best placed in each group qualify for the Super 12, where the eight best placed in the world rankings also enter the tournament. There the twelve teams play in two groups of six, each against each other. The two best in the group then qualify for the semi-finals, the winners of which then carry out the final.
Preliminary round
The group assignments were announced on January 28, 2019.
As the worst qualifiers on the world rankings, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have to contest the preliminary round. The top two in each group qualify for the Super 12 round. The group announcement took place on November 2, 2019.

In the Super 12 round, the participants in the semi-finals are determined in two groups of six teams each. From the preliminary round, two teams qualify for each group. The two best teams in each group qualify for the semi-finals.
