ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2012
The ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2012 was the qualifying tournament for the ICC World Twenty20 2012 and took place between March 13th and 24th, 2012 in the United Arab Emirates . In addition to the six associate and affiliate members of the ICC who have ODI status, ten other participants for this tournament were determined in regional qualifying tournaments. First, six teams should qualify for the ICC World Twenty20 2012 in Sri Lanka at the final qualifying tournament. This increase in participants was decided to compensate for the reduction in the number of participants in the 2015 Cricket World Cup . However, when the number of participants in the Cricket World Cup was increased again, the number of qualifiers for the World Twenty20 was again reduced to two. In the final Ireland beat Afghanistan with five wickets and both qualified for the ICC World Twenty20 2012 in Sri Lanka, each with a win against Namibia.
