Qualification for the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2012

The qualification for the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2012 consisted of 12 regional qualifying tournaments in Twenty20 - cricket for the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2012 . In these, the ten teams were determined which, in addition to the teams with ODI status, will take part in this qualifying tournament for the ICC World Twenty20 2012 .

format

The tournaments were held in the five regions of the International Cricket Council . Three teams from Asia qualified, two each from Africa, America and Europe and one from the East Asian / Pacific region. In each region, the tournaments are structured hierarchically, so that the final qualification takes place through the division 1 tournament. The lower divisions are there to complement the participants in the top division.

The Africa Division 3 tournament was held from February 23-28, 2011 in Accra , Ghana . Participating teams were: Gambia, Cameroon, Lesotho, Mali, Morocco, Rwanda and the Seychelles.

The Africa Division 2 tournament was held from May 14th to 20th, 2011 in Benoni , South Africa . The participating teams were Botswana, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, Tanzania and the winner of Division 3, Rwanda.

The top two teams Nigeria and Ghana qualified for Division 1.

Division 1

The Africa Division 1 tournament, the Africa Premier League, took place from July 9th to 15th, 2011 in Kampala , Uganda . The participating teams were Namibia, Kenya, Uganda, as well as the top two in Division 2, Ghana and Nigeria.

The America Division 1 took place from July 17th to 24th in Fort Lauderdale , USA . The teams from Argentina, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands, the USA and the winner of Division 2, Suriname took part. Canada has already been qualified in advance due to its existing ODI status.

Asia

The ACC Twenty20 Cup 2011 served as qualification for the Asian teams. The tournament took place from December 1st to 10th, 2011 in Kathmandu , Nepal . Afghanistan, Bhutan, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates took part.

The European Division 3 tournament took place between May 11 and 14, 2011 in Valburga , Slovenia and Velden , Austria . The participating teams were Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, the host Slovenia, Sweden and Turkey.
