IC 1291 is a faint bar spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBdm in the constellation Dragon in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 97 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years across.
The astronomical object was discovered by Lewis Swift on June 5, 1891 .
