IC 1296 is a faint bar spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Lyra in the northern sky . It is an estimated 238 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years in diameter.
The astronomical object was discovered by Edward Emerson Barnard on October 2, 1893 .
