iGroove is an independent music distribution platform founded in 2013. It offers musicians and music labels the opportunity to offer their music independently of record labels via platforms such as Spotify , iTunes , Apple Music , Amazon Music , Google Play Music , YouTube Music, Tidal , Deezer and many more.

IGroove AG is based in Freienbach in Switzerland .

history

iGroove was founded in 2013 by Dennis Hausammann, Moris Marchionna and Géraldine Allemann. After having had bad experiences as musicians with labels and distributors and their high margins, they wanted to develop a fair solution for musicians with iGroove. They pay a one-time fee for each release and then receive 92% of the revenue generated, while retaining all rights to their music. This is in contrast to the dominant Spotify platform, which pays its artists an average of $ 0.00437 per song played. IGroove received early support from Microsoft and their Microsoft Ventures program. Later, there was a brief legal dispute with Microsoft because of the similarity in name to their now discontinued streaming service Groove Music .

IGroove celebrated its first major successes with the rapper Xen , whose album entered the Swiss charts at number 4, mainly thanks to SMS sales . From then on, more and more Swiss musicians and independent labels relied on iGroove, whereupon the next step was to expand to Germany and Austria . Since iGroove primarily relies on personal support in addition to the fair conditions, it was decided in 2016 that musicians had to apply for an account. The company justified this with the fact that they would rather have fewer customers and that they could take enough time for them. In 2019, their sales platform was renamed from igroovenext.com to igroovemusic.com.

Kool Savas has been the A&R Director at iGroove since the beginning of 2020 .

Services

In addition to worldwide distribution in all important streaming and download shops, iGroove also offers physical distribution in Switzerland. In addition, their offer includes various music promotion and marketing tools. With smstracks.com, iGroove also operates its own download shop, where music can be purchased via SMS in addition to the usual means of payment .

With the help of software, the market value of songs can also be calculated and thus the future earnings of artists can be predicted. An artist can have the calculated sum paid out as an advance. In addition, the market value of an artist can thus be determined. Furthermore, third parties can invest in advance payments, which are intended to promote young talent.

technology

iGroove relies on self-developed sales software which it has also licensed to various competitors.
