The 2013/14 season was the second season of the ice hockey competition of the Inter-National League , which acts as the cross-border successor to the National League . The defending champion is the EHC Bregenzerwald . The season was played with sixteen teams and began on September 21st.

In advance

Participating teams

After the pre-season had gone six teams (four from Austria, two from Slovenia) at the start, the number of participants has been greatly expanded for this season. A total of 16 teams from three countries entered for the competition. Five teams from Italy were also added, making the league the unofficial successor to the A2 series , the Italian second division. This was a direct consequence of the Italian ice hockey, which had been in crisis for a long time, which had to contend with falling audience numbers and financial problems at the clubs. At the same time HC Bozen switched to the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga .

The Jesenice location also celebrated a resurrection with the newly founded Jesenice team after the predecessor club was dissolved in 2012. The team started in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League from 2006 to 2012 .

mode

A basic round is played in the form of a simple round-trip round. Then three groups are formed and another simple round-trip round is played. The five best-placed clubs play home rights for the quarter-finals in a "master's round", the first three receive the right to vote for their quarter-final opponent. The remaining clubs form two qualification groups A and B. The two group winners are qualified for the quarter-finals, the two runners-up play the last playoff place in a play-off. This is followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals as series in the Best of Five mode .
