IPAS stands for I ndustrie- P ark A m S ilberberg and is an industrial and commercial area in Euskirchen .

Core data

The industrial park was founded in the early 1980s in the open field along the two Euskirchen districts of Großbüllesheim and Wüschheim under the name of the Großbüllesheim-Wüschheim industrial area in order to relieve the EURO-Park industrial area close to the city center and to be able to offer more spacious industrial areas. Right from the start, the global consumer goods group Procter & Gamble , which produces Pampers diapers for over 30 countries in Euskirchen , settled there. Other large companies such as the two packaging companies Smurfit Kappa and RP-Verpackung or the spare parts provider Ratioparts followed. Further major projects have been implemented since 2016, including the first 34,000 m² logistics center of the DHL Supply Chain (2016), which was supplemented in 2018 by a second smaller logistics center on the adjacent property, the bag manufacturer Fond of Bags and an Avex petrol station.

The area has a total area of approx. 2 million m² and is therefore the largest contiguous commercial and industrial area in the Euskirchen district . Over 70 companies with a total of around 4,000 employees have now settled there. A large part of the companies is made up of metal processing companies, logistics companies and showmen companies . The industrial park is conveniently located on the motorway slip road to the A 61 and has its own rail connection. The planned relocation of the B 56 as a northern bypass of Euskirchen would also create a connection to the A 1 in the future, but this construction project has been downgraded in the latest federal traffic route plan, so that the realization is unpredictable.

The industrial area has its own substation, a high-pressure natural gas pipeline and its own rail connection that flows into the Eifel route . The relatively poor broadband supply due to the great distances to the next exchange in Euskirchen was compensated for by the expansion of its own fiber optic network by the Bonn telecommunications company bn: t Blatzheim Networks Telecom GmbH and by a centrally positioned cell phone mast.

PrimeSite Rhine Region

In the north-east there are plans to expand the area by another 205 hectares, which will also encompass the municipality of Weilerswist and its district of Ottenheim . This so-called “PrimeSite Rhine Region” is reserved for large industrial projects. In 2001 and 2013, the companies BMW and Haribo already expressed interest in investing in this location, but then decided against it. At the moment the area is undeveloped and used for agriculture. In the past, a 10,000 m² area was planned for the settlement of a hotel and restaurant .
