The list of ISO-3166-2 codes for Argentina contains the codes for the Argentine provinces .
The codes consist of two parts separated by a hyphen. The first part gives the country code according to ISO 3166-1 (for Argentina AR
), the second the code for the province.
The current country code has not been updated since it was published in 1998.
The current codes are available on the ISO website under #iso: code: 3166: AR . For Argentina, these codes each consist of a letter from the Spanish alphabet. Before 1994, these letters were also used on Argentine license plates for provincial identification. Since 1998 the Argentine postcodes have started with the code letters of the respective province or federal district.
