Ian Young (born May 21, 1943 in Neilston , † December 11, 2019 ) was a Scottish football player .

Career

society

Ian Young came to Parkhead in June 1961 from his youth club, Neilston Waverley . Young made his debut with Celtic in the Glasgow Cup against Third Lanark in May 1962. With Celtic Glasgow he won the Scottish Championship three times , the Cup twice and the League Cup three times in the 1960s . In 1967 he won with Celtic as part of the Lisbon Lions in the final of the European Cup against Inter Milan . For the Bhoys , he completed a total of 164 competitive games by 1968 and scored 3 goals. In May 1968 he moved to FC St. Mirren . In 1970 he played briefly with the Beith Juniors . He ended his career with a knee injury at the age of only 27. In 2013, Young published an autobiography about his time at Celtic .
