The Ibenbach , also called Ibentäler Bach , is a right and with 11 km the longest tributary of the Wagensteigbach in the Central Black Forest in Baden-Württemberg , which is itself the right and northern source river of the Dreisam .

course

Unteribental from the Lindenberg chapel

The source of the Ibenbach is 1.7 kilometers north of St. Märgen at 1,008 meters on the southern slope of the 1,039.5 m high Kapfenberg.

The upper Ibental is a high trough open to the southwest, characterized by grassland and steeper forest slopes, which is divided by numerous small spring valleys. The further valley runs with little turns to the southwest.

In the hamlet of Oberibental , the gently sloping valley slopes are only around 100 meters high, so that a Roman road crossing the southern Black Forest , the forerunner of the neighboring Wagensteige trail to the east , could change up the valley from the valley floor to the more manageable plateaus. Down the valley, the flanking mountain ranges reach greater heights again; between Lindenberg (813.7 m) and Winterkapf (795.7 m) the valley of the Ibenbach is a good 300 meters deep and therefore deeper than anywhere else.

In Unteribental , in addition to the individual farms and hamlets that can already be found in the upper valley, there are also smaller, closed settlement areas, which are mostly typical of the Black Forest. At the exit to the level of the Zartener Basin , the Ibenbach flows from the right into the Wagensteigbach, which is more than twice as watery. He himself has an average of 450 l / s of water here.

Numerous tributaries flow to the Ibenbach from its narrow catchment area of almost 19 km², but they are all quite small. Only the Schönbach and Kreuzhofbach, which flow from the right, and the Weberdobelbach, which descends from the left, have catchment areas of more than a square kilometer.

The component "ib" in the name indicates earlier yew stands .

  4. Area discharge of the Wiesneck gauge on the neighboring Wagensteigbach (24 l / s.km²) based on the catchment area of the Ibenbach
  5. Note: This southwestern part of the Middle Black Forest is often treated as part of the Upper Black Forest, which extends beyond the area of the southern Black Forest .
