Ifeoma Dieke (born February 25, 1981 in Amherst , Massachusetts , USA ) is a Scottish soccer player . The defender was under contract with the Swedish club Vittsjö GIK in Damallsvenskan , Sweden, from 2012 to 2017 . She played internationally for the Scottish national football team from 2004 to 2017. In 2012 she took part in the Olympic Games in London with Team GB .
Career
Ifeoma Dieke started playing football in Cumbernauld when she was eight . Because of her talent, she received a scholarship from Florida International University , where she played Panthers for the FIU. After graduation, she received a contract with Atlanta Beat in WUSA , but initially played for Swedish clubs in 2007 and 2008. In 2009 she returned to the USA and played in the WPS for two US clubs, but was loaned to the Cypriot club Apollon Limassol in 2011 and moved back to Sweden for the 2012 season.
National team
Dieke made his debut for the Scottish national football team in 2004 against Greece . In 2012 she took part in the Olympic Games for Great Britain for the first time and formed a team with players from Northern Ireland , Scotland and England . In the first game of the GB team on July 20 against Sweden , she was in the starting line-up and was also used in the first game at the Olympic Games against New Zealand . In the second game against Cameroon, she sustained a knee injury that prevented her from playing for the rest of the tournament. Also in the Scottish national team, she was not used again until March 2014 at the Cyprus Cup . On August 20, 2014, she made her 100th international match in the Scottish team's friendly against Portugal . On October 30, 2014, she played the 100th international match for Scotland. On October 20, 2015, she was honored by UEFA for this, as was Joanne Love , who had already played her 100th international match in March 2011 .
It was used five times in qualifying for the 2017 European Championship . The Scottish women qualified for the first time for a European Championship finals, in which they were used in the three group games. After leaving the group stage, she confirmed her previously announced resignation.
Private
Dieke is the child of Nigerian parents who moved to Cumbernauld when she was three years old .
