Count Ignaz Maria Weikhard Probus Alois Franz de Paula Felix Johann Nepomuk Mathia von Attems-Heiligenkreuz (born February 24, 1774 in Graz ; † December 17, 1861 ibid) was an Austrian politician. He was governor of Styria , imperial secret council and member of the manor house of the Austrian imperial council .

Life

Ignaz Maria III Graf von Attems -Heiligenkreuz was born in 1774 as the first son of Ferdinand Maria Graf von Attems-Heiligenkreuz (* 1746; † 1820) and Marianna Frn Gall von Gallenstein (* 1752; † 1839). He was governor of Styria from 1820 to 1852 . Archduke Johann of Austria appointed him curator of the Universalmuseum Joanneum . After his death he succeeded him as President of the Styrian Agricultural Society (later Chamber of Agriculture). He campaigned for a constitutional monarchy, sponsored the new building of the theater in Graz and the conversion of the Graz Lyceum into the university there . In 1861, Count Ignaz Attems was awarded hereditary membership of the manor house of the Austrian Imperial Council for the Attems family . He is listed as a founding member of the “General Anti-Duel League for Austria”.

His daughter Maria Rosalia Countess von Attems (* 1816, † 1880) married Anastasius Grün (Anton Alexander Graf von Auersperg ) in 1839 .
