Igor César (born January 13, 1968 in Weimar ) is a Rwandan diplomat . He has been Rwanda's ambassador to Germany since 2015, succeeding Christine Nkulikiyinka .

Life

Igor César is the son of a Rwandan father and a German mother. His father left Rwanda around 1960 and was studying in Belgium. In order to be able to stay abroad after Rwanda's independence in 1962, he only had to move to an Eastern Bloc country . He settled in the GDR , where he studied at the Bauhaus University in Weimar . Igor César spent the first four years of his life in Weimar. In 1971 he moved with his parents to Africa, where the family lived in Ethiopia , Tanzania and Burundi . In 1988 César returned to Germany, where he stayed until 1993. Then he found the center of his life in Canada. He studied political science at the University of Alberta from 1994 to 1999 and earned a master's degree . Until 2014 Igor César worked in various fields, most recently in Rwanda as an entrepreneur in agribusiness and the tourism industry in the Western Province .

In 2005 Igor César founded the “Center César” in Kimironko in Rwanda as a widow's village with 150 houses. Esther Mujawayo inspired him to do this , as more than 10 years after the genocide of 1994 many widows were living in miserable circumstances. The facility is named after his father, who worked as an architect and in development cooperation.

In the Diplomatic Magazine from January 2016 interview appeared with César and on 9 February 2016, the educational channel beamed ARD-alpha , a 45-minute interview in the series alpha-Forum with him.

Private

Igor César is married and has four children. His mother tongues are Kinyarwanda and German, and he also speaks French, English, Swahili and Kirundi .
