Igor Viktorovich Levschin ( Russian Игорь Викторович Левшин ; born August 18, 1974 in Tiraspol , Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic ) is a Russian handball goalkeeper .

Club career

Igor Levschin came to handball through school sports . The 1.98 meter tall goalkeeper played for GK Kaustik Volgograd from 1992 to 1999 and then until 2002 in Slovenia for RK Celje and Termo. From 2002 to 2009 he was active at Stralsund HV , with whom he played in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga . For the 2009/2010 season he moved to the second division club SV Post Schwerin , his contract ran until 2013; after Schwerin went bankrupt, he moved to SC DHfK Leipzig in early 2013 ; his contract was not renewed after the 2012/13 season. He then joined the Russian first division club GK Permskie Medwedi , with whom he won the trophy in 2014. After Lewschin played for the Qatari club al-Rayyan SC in the 2015/16 season, he signed a contract with the German Bundesliga club HC Erlangen in September 2016 .

National team

He played for the Russian junior team at the 1993 Junior World Cup in Egypt and was also part of the squad for the Russian national team. He played 90 international matches , including the 2006 European Handball Championship and the 2013 World Cup . In March 2013 he was again appointed to a course for the national team, which included two qualifying games for the 2014 European Championship ; at the European Championships in Denmark he was in the squad.

Private

Igor Levschin is married and has two children.
