Igors Vihrovs (born June 6, 1978 in Riga , Latvian SSR ) is a former Latvian gymnast .

successes

Igors Vihrovs took part in two Olympic Games : In 2000 he missed the final in all disciplines except one, only in floor exercise he managed to qualify in fourth with 9,662 points. With 9.812 points in the final, he prevailed against all competitors and thus became Olympic champion . This was also the first gold medal for independent Latvia. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , he qualified 18th in the individual all-around for the final, in which he also finished 18th. In the other disciplines he missed the finals. Between the two games, Vihrovs won silver in floor exercise in 2001 at the Universiade and bronze at the World Championships in Ghent . In 2003 he finished the floor exercise competition at the World Championships in Anaheim in sixth place.
