Ihlpohl is one of six districts of the municipality of Ritterhude in the Lower Saxon district of Osterholz and has 2,387 inhabitants (status: 06/2016). Until it was incorporated into Ritterhude, there was the municipality of Osterhagen-Ihlpohl with the village of Osterhagen.
location
The village of Ihlpohl is located on the southern edge of the Osterholzer Geest . While the southern part of the village is characterized by single-family houses, commercial areas are located in the northern and southern parts. Ihlpohl belongs to the municipality of Ritterhude with the 5 localities Ritterhude, Platjenwerbe, Lesumstotel, Stendorf and Werschenrege. The settlement areas Osterhagen and Vor Osterhagen were already a few hundred meters northeast of what was then the core of Ihlpohl at the time of the Prussian land survey .
Waters, nature reserves
The Obere Ihleniederung nature reserve lies in the eastern part of the village and the 4.8 hectare Ruschdahlmoor nature reserve in Bremen lies on the south-western outskirts . In the south of Ihlpohl, the Ihle , an approximately four-kilometer-long tributary of the Lesum, flows partly as a border river to Bremen from north to south . Its source is north of the Moormannskamp school center.
Surveys
The landscape is slightly hilly and forests and meadows predominate in the north. A high point is the Lärchenhügel / Rosenhüge area, from which it slopes steeply to the real and Am Moor. The streets Alter Postweg and Heimstraße are also higher than the area around the former B6.

The local climate is very similar to the weather in Bremen, but the rain predictions often apply to North Bremen, but - due to the geest situation - not so often to Ihlpohl.
history
Osterhagen was first mentioned in a map from 1655. The old village center was not, as is often assumed, by the monument, but a little further to the northeast, for example at “Bron's tree nurseries”. In 1850 the patrimonial court Ritterhude (consisting of the places Ritterhude, Osterhagen-Ihlpohl, Werschenrege (with Erve, Loge, Ovelgönne) and 5 houses of Lesumstotel, as well as Heilshorn, Hülseberg / Isehorn, Buschhausen and Vor-Scharmbeckstotel) with the office Osterholz united. There is further mention on the "GD Reymann's topographical special map 54 of Central Europe" from 1879.
On March 1, 1974, the Osterhagen-Ihlpohl community was incorporated into the Ritterhude community. In 1182 Ritterhude was first mentioned as Hude (Low German Hu'e) in a document from the Osterholz monastery. Since 2004, the entrance signs have been awarded bilingual.
politics
In Ritterhude, the SPD has been in the majority by a clear margin for decades. The CDU is also quite well represented, but has never won a majority so far. Among the “other parties”, the Greens are somewhat stronger than the rest, but with around 10% they are not in the majority. They reached 19.01% in the district council elections in 2011 and only 16.19% in those in 2016.

In the mayoral election in 2014, Susanne Geils, SPD, was elected with 50.25%. She has been mayor since 2006.

The town of Ihlpohl neither has its own coat of arms nor a flag, nor does it have a twinning relationship.
Culture and sights
- The memorial to the fallen of the First World War.
- "Bron's Nurseries ": located since 1903.

- Alter Postweg 59: Thatched house.
- Street “Am Denkmal”: Part of the street paved with extremely hard-fired peat fire clinker. The stones were originally used in courtyards on farms; The stones have received their traces from the iron horse-drawn cart wheels and the horseshoe.

Infrastructure
The federal motorway 27 runs through Ihlpohl and the federal motorway 270 on the south-western edge of the town . The federal road B6 was abolished in the 1970s between Osterhagen-Ihlpohl and Bremerhaven; in its place was the federal highway 27. The extensive trees to the right and left of the main road should be emphasized.
