Ikerasaarsuk [ iˌkɜʁaˈsɑːsːuk ] (according to the old spelling Ikerasârssuk ) is a desolate Greenlandic settlement in the district of Sisimiut in the Qeqqata communia .

location

Ikerasaarsuk is located on a strait of the same name that connects the Ikertooq with the Ikerasaarsuk Amerlua and separates the island of Sallersua . Ikerasaarsuk is located 13 km southwest of Sarfannguit .

history

Ikerasaarsuk is said to have been settled in 1903, but according to other sources the place must have existed as early as 1901. From 1911 Ikerasaarsuk was part of the municipality of Sarfannguit. In 1918, 18 people lived at the residential area and lived in three houses. Among them were three hunters. There was a catechist who graduated from school. The inhabitants lived mainly from hunting seals and reindeer. It is said that the inhabitants did not have boats to leave the place. The only existing boat had been swept away in a storm. In 1920 the place was given up. In 1928 it was repopulated. In 1930 8 people lived in Ikerasaarsuk, but in 1947 there were already 43. Nevertheless, Ikerasaarsuk was finally abandoned in 1953.
