Ilka Brecht

Ilka Brecht (* 1965 in Hamburg ) is a German television presenter and editor . She is editor-in-chief and moderates the ZDF broadcast Frontal21 .

Life

Ilka Brecht studied as a scholarship holder of studienstiftung 1985-1992 in Hamburg and Rome German , philosophy , political science and art history . From 1993 to 1996 she worked as an editor for the magazine Der Spiegel , from 1996 to 1997 she completed a traineeship at Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) and subsequently worked as a reporter for the formats Panorama , Extra 3 , Tagesschau , Tagesthemen , Weltbilder ,Weltspiegel and others.

From 2000 to 2005 was Brecht Editor and Managing Editor of Panorama . In 2005 she moved to the ZDF magazine Frontal21 in the same position . In 2014 she became deputy editor-in-chief and moderator. Since September 1, 2015, she has been editor-in-chief of the show.

Awards

Together with Birte Meier , Astrid Randerath and Christian Esser , she received the Environmental Media Prize 2019 from Deutsche Umwelthilfe for the Frontal 21 report "Returns for garbage - Amazon junkyard" .
