distribution

At the end of the 19th century the name Ilse was moderately popular in Germany. This changed in the first years of the 20th century, so that the name was among the ten most frequently given female first names from the mid-1910s to the beginning of the thirties, and in 1920 it was even the most common. Then its popularity gradually waned at first, from the end of the forties strongly, so that nowadays children are hardly called Ilse.
