Imane Merga
Imane Merga (born October 15, 1988 in Tulu Bolo , Oromia region ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner .
He had his first successes in cross-country runs . In 2007 he won the Crosse Internacional de Oeiras and in 2009 the Antrim International Cross Country .
As Ethiopian runner-up over 10,000 meters , he qualified for the World Championships in Berlin , where he finished fourth.
In 2010 he won the Giro Media Blenio , the Corrida de Houilles and the BOclassic . In the 5000 meter run , he prevailed in the overall ranking of the IAAF Diamond League with victories at the Bislett Games in Oslo and the Golden Gala in Rome .
At the 2011 World Cross Country Championships in Punta Umbría, he won the title in the individual standings and the silver medal in the team standings. This was followed by the title defense at the Giro Media Blenio. At the 2011 World Championships in Daegu , Merga crossed the finish line in third place over 5000 meters, but was subsequently disqualified because he had illegally left the track. The bronze medal then went to his compatriot Dejen Gebremeskel . In the 10,000 meter run, Merga won the bronze medal with a time of 27: 19.14 minutes.
