Indian National Airways was an Indian airline founded in 1933. In 1953, it was merged with six other Indian airlines to form Indian Airlines .
history
In May 1933, Govan Bros Ltd. founded an airline with a capital of 3 million rupees . The airline mainly connected smaller cities with New Delhi , which served as the hub of Imperial Airways , which was then dominant in India . In addition to passengers, the company primarily transported mail.
fleet
Due to their operational profile, Indian National Airways operated in addition to Douglas DC-2 , DC-3 and Vickers Viking IB, also smaller aircraft that were otherwise more likely to be assigned to general aviation . A fleet of three Beech Staggerwing Model E may serve as an example . This single-engine double - decker with a closed cabin had a 285 HP radial engine with a rigid propeller and could also operate from unpaved runways .
