Air India Regional ( Hindi एअर इंडिया क्षेत्रीय ) is the brand identity of the Indian regional airline Alliance Air , based in New Delhi and based at Indira Gandhi International Airport . It is a subsidiary of Air India Limited .

history

Air India Regional was founded in 1996 as Alliance Air by Indian Airlines as a low-cost airline , the fleet consisted of Boeing 737-200s . After Indian Airlines merged with Air India , the branding of Alliance Air was changed to Air India Regional . She has been operating regional flights since then.

Air India Regional flies to numerous destinations in India from its aviation hubs .

Incidents

  • On July 17, 2000, an Alliance Air Boeing 737-200 ( aircraft registration number VT-EGD) stalled when the aircraft made a left turn too slowly on its approach to landing at Patna Airport . The plane struck several houses, fell to the ground and went up in flames. 55 of the 58 people on board and five people on the ground died in the accident.
