Bengt Rolf Inge Bengtsson (born April 8, 1934 in Anderstorp , † January 26, 2005 in Gnosjö ) was a Swedish football player . The midfielder was in 101 games in the Allsvenskan for AIK on the field and scored 13 goals.

career

Bengtsson began playing football in his home town at Anderstorps IF before moving to Gnosjö IF in 1952, also in Jönköpings län . A year later he moved to third division IS Halmia , with whom he was promoted to the second division at the end of the season . He came to AIK in Allsvenskan via Anderstorps IF in 1958 .

Bengtsson made his debut towards the end of the marathon season 1957/58 on September 7, 1958 in the 2: 4 away defeat at IFK Norrköping in the Swedish elite series. Until his first goal in the House of Lords, however, he had to wait until the following season, which he scored on May 12, 1959 in the 3-1 victory over Halmstads BK . He succeeded in the 59th minute of the game to hit the final score. In the following years , the player employed by Electrolux was used regularly and played a large part of the league games. The season of 1961 ended the club only in eleventh place and thus on a relegation place. Bengtsson remained loyal to the club in the second division and made a decisive contribution to the direct promotion : As champion of Division II Svealand , AIK competed in the promotion games, where it came to promotion on the last day of the Fernduell with Landskrona BoIS . It was only in the last minute of the game that Benny Söderling managed to score after Bengtsson's work, which enabled AIK to return thanks to the better goal difference. In the first division Bengtsson was still one of the regulars and helped the club to establish itself in the front table area in the following years.

1966 Bengtsson left AIK and moved to the fourth division IF Brommapojkarna , who had risen from the fifth division. After a year and a half at the Bromma club , he returned to Gnosjö IF. The club now played second class. In 1968 he had to relegate with the club, two years later he was promoted again. After the end of the season, he ended his active career. He later worked as a department head at the association.

Worth mentioning

His brother Jörgen Bengtsson also played for AIK in the Allsvenskan.
