Innocent Lies is a British-French thriller from 1995. The plot is based on the novel Shortly Before Midnight by Agatha Christie .

In 1938 the British detective Joe Green was murdered in a small town in the south of France. The authorities suspect suicide, but Alan Cross, the man's friend, does not believe it. Cross and his daughter arrive to attend the funeral service. Cross then does some research.
The trail leads him to Lady Helena Graves, who is said to have had an affair with Green. Their daughter Celia Graves is engaged to Christopher Wood. Cross finds Celia attractive and is fascinated by the woman. Lady Helena is killed. It turns out that Celia could have a relationship with her brother Jeremy.
Reviews
- Geoffrey D. Roberts wrote on MovieFreak.com that the performers were not performing well. The portrayal of Adrian Dunbar is clichéd. Roberts only praised Gabrielle Anwar's play.
