Irena Gillarová (born January 19, 1992 ; born Šedivá ) is a Czech javelin thrower .

Athletic career

Irena Gillarová gained her first international experience in 2009 at the World Youth Championships in Bressanone , where she was eliminated from the qualification with 45.62 m before taking seventh place at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tampere with a width of 45.70 m. In 2011 she reached sixth place at the Junior European Championships in Tallinn with 53.02 m and in 2013 she was eliminated from the qualification at the U23 European Championships in Tampere with 48.58 m. In 2015 she began her studies in the United States and won the bronze medal behind Belarusian Tazzjana Chaladowitsch and Līna Mūze from Latvia at the Summer Universiade in Gwangju with a throw of 59.89 m . In 2016 she took part in the European Championships in Amsterdam for the first time, but was eliminated there with 52.48 m in the qualification. The following year she took part again in the Student World Games in Taipei and this time came eleventh with 56.24 m. In 2018 she finished seventh at the European Championships in Berlin with 59.76 m and in 2019 she was sixth at the European Games in Minsk with a throw of 61.03 m. She qualified for the World Championships in Doha , where she finished twelfth with 55.86 m in the final .

Gillarová graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and became an NCAA college master in 2015 and 2017.
