Ischke Senekal (born January 8, 1993 ) is a South African shot putter and discus thrower .

Athletic career

Ischke Senekal gained her first international experience at the Junior African Championships 2011 in Gaborone , where she won the gold medal in the discus throw with 49.90 m and took fourth place in the shot put with 12.53 m. In 2012 she took part with the discus at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona and was eliminated there with 45.33 m in qualification. In 2015 she took part in the Summer Universiade in Gwangju for the first time and reached twelfth place with 50.53 m. Then she won the silver medal behind the Nigerian Claire Uke at the Africa Games in Brazzaville with 50.53 mand was fifth with the ball with a width of 13.64 m. In 2016, she finished fifth at the African Championships in Durban with 15.07 m and 50.16 m respectively. In 2017 she was eliminated from the qualification at the Student World Games in Taipei with 14.86 m and reached tenth place with the discus with 52.87 m in the final. In 2018 she won the African Championships in Asaba with 17.24 m in the shot put and with 53.82 m she won the bronze medal with the discus behind the Nigerians Chioma Onyekwere and Chinwe Okoro . Then she was fourth in the shot put at the Continental Cup in Ostrava with 17.10 m and eighth in the discus throw with 50.21 m.

In 2019 Senekal again took part in the African Games in Rabat and won the silver medal behind the Nigerian Oyesade Olatoye in the shot put with 16.18 m . In addition, she won the bronze medal behind Onyekwere and her compatriot Yolandi Stander with the discus with 53.95 m .

From 2015 to 2019 Senekal was the South African champion in discus throw and shot put.
