Jo-Ane van Dyk (born October 3, 1997 ) is a South African javelin thrower .

Athletic career

Jo-Ane van Dyk gained her first international experience at the 2013 Youth World Championships in Donetsk , where she finished sixth with 50.16 m. The following year she won the African Youth Games in Gaborone with 47.62 m and started at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing , where she was seventh with 48.93 m. In 2015 she won the Junior African Championships in Addis Ababa with 49.47 m and won bronze at the African Games in Brazzaville with 50.52 m behind the Nigerian Kelechi Nwanaga and Zuta Mary Nartey from Ghana. In 2016 she won the silver medal behind her compatriot Sunette Viljoen at the African Championships in Durban with 56.22 m . At the subsequent U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz , she also won the silver medal behind Polish Klaudia Maruszewska with a new best performance of 57.32 m . In 2017 she finished ninth at the Summer Universiade in Taipei with 57.02 m. The following year she won the silver medal behind the Nigerian Nwanaga at the African Championships in Asaba with a throw of 53.72 m. Then she was fourth at the Continental Cup in Ostrava with 52.69 m. The following year she reached sixth place at the Student World Games in Naples with 57.36 m. Then she won the silver medal behind Nwanga at the Africa Games in Rabat with a throw on 55.38 m.

In 2018 van Dyk became the South African javelin thrower.
