István Sztani [ ˈiʃtvaːn ˈstɒni ] (born March 19, 1937 ) is a former Hungarian football player and today's football coach.
career
Sztani came to Eintracht Frankfurt in 1957 . With Eintracht the half-forward won the German championship in 1959 . In the two years with Eintracht he came to 36 league games in which he scored 20 goals. He also came to 5 appearances in the DFB-Pokal in which he scored 4 goals and to 7 appearances in the final round of the German championship in 1959 (7 goals). In the same year he moved to Standard Liège in Belgium, where he stayed until 1965 and then moved back to Frankfurt. By 1968 he completed 21 Bundesliga games for Eintracht in three seasons, in which he only scored 3 goals. In the 1966/67 season he played for Eintracht in the Intertoto round in which he scored a goal in eight missions. In the 1968/69 season he played for TuS Makkabi Frankfurt. He then moved back to Belgium, where he was active as a player until 1973 and as a player-coach for AA Gent from 1969 to 1971 . In the 1973/74 season he was player-coach of the RRC Tournaisien .
In the 1974/75 season Sztani took over the coaching position at 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 and reached third place in the second Bundesliga south . Nevertheless he left Schweinfurt. In the 1975/76 season , Sztani was a coach at VfB Stuttgart in the second Bundesliga south, but was dismissed on March 31, 1976 when the desired promotion to the first Bundesliga had become virtually unattainable. In the 1976/77 season he coached from October 20, 1976 in the second division south of FK Pirmasens and in the 1978/79 season to May 15, 1978 the FC Bayern Hof . 1 July 1979 to 28 November 1979, he trained in the Second League North the SV Arminia Hannover . His last coaching engagement in the professional field was from March 27, 1980 to the end of the 1979/80 season at Würzburger FV .
Between January and October 1999 he was Eintracht's youth coach.
Sztani is a member of the Rot-Weiss Frankfurt administrative board . He also trained the soccer team of the Praunheimer and Oberräder handicapped workshops on behalf of Rot-Weiss Frankfurt . Since 2012 he has been active in the youth division of 1. FC-TSG Königstein. There he trained a. a. the A-youth and is active as a technical trainer and in the football camps of the club.
In addition, he supports the young player Luis Majchrzak from 1. FSV Mainz 05 in his further development from the U 16 into the junior Bundesliga .
