Ivan Šangulin (born April 20, 1938 in Biograd na Moru , † May 5, 2012 ) was a football player .
Player career
Ivan Šangulin probably started his professional career at NK Šibenik . In the 1961/1962 season he played for a short period at Dinamo Zagreb , where he could not assert himself. He moved to NK Rijeka in 1962 , where he played until 1966.
In 1966, Šangulin moved to Hertha BSC . With the Berliners was 1967 Regional Champion . However, the return to the Bundesliga was clearly missed in the promotion round . The Regionalliga Berlin was also dominated in 1967/68 , with Šangulin forming a defensive formation with Lothar Groß , Uwe Witt , Peter Enders and Tasso Wild , which allowed only eleven goals against in 30 games. In contrast to the previous season, the Herthaners were able to assert themselves in the promotion round, with Šangulin contributing a hit against Rot-Weiss Essen . 1968/69 they went to the 1st Bundesliga, in which Ivan Šangulin played 30 of 34 games. At the end of the season there was a 14th place, and in particular the defense to Šangulin laid the foundation for relegation. Only champions FC Bayern Munich (31 goals conceded) and MSV Duisburg (37) conceded fewer goals than Hertha (39).
After the season, Šangulin went to TuS Wannsee , who first appeared in the Regionalliga Berlin in 1969/70 . After relegation, Šangulins moved to league rivals Tasmania Berlin . The Tasmanians dominated the league in 1970/71 , but failed in the promotion round. After the following summer break, Šangulin did not return to Tasmania despite a valid contract. When Tasmania played again the following year for promotion, he offered his help, but Tasmania refused.
Coaching career
After his playing career, Šangulin trained in his home country in 1985, from 1989 to 1992 and 1994, the NK Šibenik , as well as NK Zadar and HNK Primorac Biograd na Moru .
